Obituary for William Gooding McMillan
William Gooding McMillan, Sr. peacefully passed away on January 31, 2020. He was born on October 12, 1924, and was one of five sons of Thomas Sanders McMillan and Clara Gooding McMillan. He was a long-time resident of Barnwell, South Carolina, and worked for many years at the Savannah River Site, where he retired in 1985. He was a World War II Veteran, having served in the Naval Reserve in 1944 – 1945. He and his wife, Betty, were active members of the Barnwell Presbyterian Church from 1953 until leaving Barnwell in 2012. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Axford McMillan in 2014, and is survived by his daughter, Mary Elisa Moskovitz of Columbia, South Carolina; son, William Gooding McMillan, Jr. and his wife, Kathryn Elaine McMillan of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; grandson, Ryan Gooding McMillan, his wife, Sarah Gray McMillan and their daughters Coraline Peace McMillan and Piper Love McMillan of Johnson City, Tennessee; and grandson, Steven Lyle McMillan, his wife Natalie Sims McMillan and their daughter Lelia Elizabeth McMillan of La Vergne, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at 2:00PM in the Mole Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Fred Buchanan officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
