Obituary for William Wayne Jordan
William Wayne Jordan, 84, of Barnwell, SC passed away on September 29th, 2025. He was born on April 30th, 1941 to the late Percy F Jordan and Cappie Smith Jordan.
He married his wife, Willa Dean Scruggs, in 1963. He served in the National Guard from 1962-1989 as 1st Sargent of Company B 122nd Engineering Battalion, also known as 1st Sarg or Top to the soldiers. He was a member of the City Council and County Council in Barnwell, a member of the Jaycee’s and was instrumental in helping to start the Jaycee swimming pool, a member of the Barnwell Fire Dept. for many years, a member of the Ag Club of Barnwell, a member of the Po Boys Club, as well as a member of Hagood Ave. Baptist Church. He worked as a plumber in Barnwell for 62 years.
He is survived by his wife, Willa Dean Scruggs Jordan; children, Machelle (Terry) Padgett, Melissa (Jimmy) Easterling both of Barnwell; grandchildren Shelly Padgett of Barnwell, Kodee (Mitchell) Monteith of Rock Hill, Jacob (Perla) Padgett and Jeremy Padgett of Barnwell; as well as his great-grandchildren, Adaline Padgett and Hampton Argoe both of Barnwell. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alena Padgett.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 2nd, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Mole Funeral Home, with funeral services following at 3:00 PM. Graveside will be held in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please donate to your church, the Barnwell Fire Department, or the Alzheimer’s Association.
