Obituary for Olean Jones McConnell
Mrs. Olean E. Jones McConnell, 89, passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Pruett Health Care of Barnwell. Olean was born in Columbia SC to the late Buck and Jesse Reynolds Wallace and was later adopted by the late Charles O. Jones and Julia Delk Jones Black. She graduated from Barnwell High School in 1946 with athletic skills. She retired from Milliken Inc. as a secretary of the maintenance department with 30 years' service. Olean was a charter member of Hagood Ave. Baptist Church, having the honor of being sent by Barnwell First Baptist Church to help set up missions in 1952. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, July 24 at 3:00 pm in Hagood Ave. Baptist Church with Dr. Kenneth Catoe officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell Co. Memory Gardens Cemetery on Reynolds Rd. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2016 from 5-7 pm at Mole Funeral Home. Survivors include her three sons; Charles L. (Betty) McConnell of Barnwell, William E. (Deborah) McConnell of New Ellenton and Richard L. (Donna) McConnell of Barnwell; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband Robert L. McConnell, a step daughter, Patricia M. Wilson and a sister Dorothy W. Mathis.
