Obituary for John L. Hair
John L Hair was born on December 13, 1929 and left this earth to be with the Lord on December 24, 2020 at the age of 91. He is preceded in death by all of his siblings and parents. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Patricia Mattia Hair - his two sons Greg Hair (wife - Deb), Rob Hair (wife -Kim) - his loving grandchildren, Jason Hair (wife - Gleicy) and Stephanie Hair (Fiancé – Adam) along with many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews who thought of “Uncle John” as a father. He also leaves behind his most faithful friend, his dog “Rocky.” John spent his entire life in service to his Lord and Savior, taking care of his wife, Pat who was the love of his life, his family and friends and Barnwell County community where he was born and where he is laid to rest in peace. John always cared for others above self and is a perfect example of that love and servant’s heart to all those who knew and loved him. He had a long career as a master welder and served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher in Manassas, Virginia while he worked at Atlantic Research and again in Barnwell where he retired in 1975. He always had a smile on his face and found the positive in every circumstance. He found so much joy walking through the woods around the farm with Pat, loving on his dog while sitting on the porch with his wife, and tinkering in his garden and welding shop. He enjoyed so many great times with his family and with his grandkids over his long life – fishing and telling stories. He was selfless, generous and kind. He is a true role model and leaves behind a legacy of love. John can forever be found in the people he knew and loved and left behind. He lives forever in our hearts, our minds and acts of kindness in his honor. In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed “in memory of John L Hair” to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, 212 Zoar Road, Chesterfield, SC 29709.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 at 12:00 Noon in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery by the airport, with Dr. Steve Burnette officiating. The family will greet guest following the service. Mole Funeral Home of Barnwell is assisting the family.
