Obituary for Betty Laura Smith Mosier Priester
Betty Laura Smith Mosier Priester, 76,passed away on Monday, January 11,2021 at her home in Aiken SC.
Betty was born in Summerville, SC on March 27,1944 to the late Paul and Catherine Smith. The youngest of seven children. She spent her childhood in Aiken , SC and returned back to the Charleston area when she was a teenager. She married Robert Mosier and together they had seven children.
Later, in 2001, she married Robert Priester, giving her three stepsons. She did not believe in the word “step”. She counted all her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as hers. She loved everyone in her family and was very proud to be called Mom, Mama, Grandma, and Nanny. She is Mom/Mama to ten children, Grandma/ Nanny to 39 grands, 41 great-grands and 2 great-great-grands. She became a Christian in 1978 at the Jackson Church of God while Rev. Ed Tager was preaching. She was a faithful member of many churches over the years where she worked in the church by selling donuts, hotdogs, having bake sales, being a Sunday School teacher and many other things around the church. Most recently, she has been attending The Langley Church of God where she is a faithful member of the Prime Timers Sunday School Class.
She leaves to cherish her memory her children; David (Edie) Mosier of Graniteville, Rev. Charles (Denise) Mosier of Orangeburg, Joseph (Cydne) Mosier of Rock Hill, and Rev. Karl (Kathy) Mosier of Clinton, Melissa (Tony) Rockhold of Aiken and Sabrina (Brian Mitchum) Mosier of Warrenville, Scott Priester of Barnwell, Brad (Holly) Priester of Roseville, GA and Stephen (Jennifer) Priester of Murphiesboro, TN, 39 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; son, Robert “Bobby” Mosier; Husband, Robert Mosier; sisters Sarah Westmoreland and Alice Mae Hester; brothers, Henry Clark Jr, Allen Clark, Paul Smith, Jr., and Johnny Smith.
Funeral Services will by held on Friday January 15, 2021 at the Langley Church of God with visitation at 11 am and services at 12 (Noon). Burial will follow at 2:30 pm in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery (Airport) on Hwy. 278. Pallbearers are, Charles Mosier, Robbie Mosier, Karl Mosier, Brian Mitchum, Tony “Rocky” Rockhold, and John Smith.
The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice, especially Ms. Becky and Ms. Jessica for their attention and care during Mom’s illness. You were awesome with her and it is greatly appreciated.
To all of her “adopted” children, all the ones that called her “Mom” thank you for loving Mom and being part of our family.
