Obituary for Mildred Kneece Suter

Mildred Kneece Suter, died on July 14, 2023 at home. 


Mildred was born in Winston-Salem, NC, on January 6, 1925, to the late John Daniel Kneece and Anna Lota McLeod Kneece. She graduated from Gilbert High School, was a Winthrop graduate receiving a BS degree in piano performance and music education. She taught in the public-school systems in West Virginia, Swansea, SC, Batesburg-Leesville, SC and Barnwell, SC. She served as organist and choir director in West Virginia as well as at the church of the Holy Apostles and Barnwell Presbyterian Church for a total of 70 plus years. In addition to being an organist she also taught piano privately. She was a gifted service organist, glorifying God in hymn and anthem and accompanying vocalists.


Preceding her in death was her husband, William Guy Suter; sister, Betty Jackson and brothers, James Kneece and David Kneece. She is survived by her children: Martha Suter Roberts (David) of Salisbury, MD; Mary Suter Morin(Larry) of Portland, TN; James T. Suter of Swansea, SC. Grandchildren are William Clay Roberts (Emily) of Parker, CO; Katherine Roberts Cronshaw (Joshua) of Salisbury, MD; Myryea Edwards Ivey (Lane) of Mt. Juliet, TN; Rion Edwards of Mt. Juliet, TN; William Suter (Cassandra) of Madison, WI; Robert Suter of Columbia, SC; and Matthew Suter of Winter, WI. Mildred is also survived by 11 great grandchildren.


The family wishes to thank One-Team Home Healthcare who so generously helped her at the end of her life. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Holy Apostles Church in Barnwell, SC. 


 A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on July 18, 2023, at Church of the Holy Apostles Churchyard, Barnwell, S.C., with a reception to be held afterwards in the Church Parish Hall.
