Obituary for John J Stephens
John J. Stephens, Sr, 75, was called home to be with his Heavenly Father, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 23rd, 2023. He was born in Orangeburg SC, on July 14, 1948, to the late Jesse D. and Frances Bishop Stephens.
He was a loving and devoted Husband, Father and Grandfather. He was proud of his Family and would give you the "shirt off his back" if you needed it. He was the Owner and Operator of Steve's Imports in Barnwell and served the community as a skilled mechanic for over 45 years before retiring several years ago. He deeply enjoyed cooking, gardening and nature. He enjoyed his Clemson Tigers and was proud to be an American. He was very grateful and content with all the blessings he was given. There was nothing he couldn't fix and was gifted with many talents that are very rare these days. He was the Founder and Chairperson of the Audio/Video Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in Barnwell for 25 years. He took his role very seriously and was committed to delivering the sick and shut-ins videos of Worship Services each week as well as the Audio to the Big Dog Radio Station in Allendale, SC. To say he will be missed is an understatement but we know we will meet again, "One Sweet Day" when we all get to Heaven.
He is survived by his loving sweetheart and wife of 46 years, Carolyn Fort Stephens. Children: Tammy Stephens Still (Timmy), Johnny Stephens, Jr (Amy) and Stephanie Stephens Gray (Jason) and 13 Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10 am on July 26, 2023, at the Barnwell United Methodist Cemetery, Barnwell, S.C. with Rev. Dale Hutto and Rev. Dean Deer officiating. Family will receive friends after service.
